Poem first read at Obama's church in 2002 and reprinted in their September 08 newsletter:
Sept 11 — A Moment of Silence… for all those others
by Emmanuel Ortiz
Before I start this poem,I’d like to ask you to join me ina moment of silencein honour of those who diedin the World Trade Centreand the Pentagonlast September 11th.
I would also like to ask youa moment of silencefor all of those who have beenharassed, imprisoned, disappeared, tortured, raped, or killedin retaliation for those strikes, for the victims in bothAfghanistan and the U.S.
And if I could just add one more thing…A full day of silencefor the tens of thousands of Palestinianswho have died at the hands ofU.S.-backed Israeli forcesover decades of occupation.
Six months of silencefor the million and-a-half Iraqi people, mostly children, who have died ofmalnourishment or starvationas a result of an 11-year U.S. embargoagainst the country.
Before I begin this poem:two months of silencefor the Blacks under Apartheidin South Africa, where homeland securitymade them aliensin their own country.Nine months of silence
for the dead in Hiroshimaand Nagasaki, where death raineddown and peeled backevery layer of concrete, steel, earth and skinand the survivors went on as if alive.
A year of silencefor the millions of deadin Vietnam–a people, not a war forthose who know a thing or twoabout the scent of burning fuel, their relatives’ bones buried in it,their babies born of it.
A year of silencefor the dead in Cambodia and Laos, victims of a secret war … ssssshhhhh ….Say nothing .. we don’t want them tolearn that they are dead.
Two months of silencefor the decades of deadin Colombia, whose names, like the corpses they once represented, have piled up and slipped offour tongues.
Before I begin this poem,An hour of silencefor El Salvador …An afternoon of silencefor Nicaragua …Two days of silencefor the Guatemaltecos …None of whom ever knewa moment of peace
45 seconds of silencefor the 45 deadat Acteal, Chiapas25 years of silencefor the hundred million Africanswho found their gravesfar deeper in the oceanthan any building couldpoke into the sky. There will be no DNA testingor dental recordsto identify their remains. And for those who werestrung and swungfrom the heights ofsycamore treesin the south, the north, the east, and the west…
100 years of silence…For the hundreds of millions ofindigenous peoplesfrom this half of right here,Whose land and lives were stolen,In postcard-perfect plotslike Pine Ridge,Wounded Knee,Sand Creek, Fallen Timbers,or the Trail of Tears.
Names now reducedto innocuous magnetic poetryon the refrigeratorof our consciousness …So you want a moment of silence?
Because this is not a 9-1-1 poemThis is a 9/10 poem,It is a 9/9 poem,A 9/8 poem,A 9/7 poemThis is a 1492 poem.This is a poem aboutwhat causes poems like thisto be written
And if this is a 9/11 poem, thenThis is a September 11th poemfor Chile, 1971This is a September 12th poemfor Steven Biko in South Africa, 1977
This is a September 13th poemfor the brothers at Attica Prison,New York, 1971.This is a September 14th poemfor Somalia, 1992. This is a poemfor every date that fallsto the ground in ashesThis is a poem for the 110 storiesthat were never toldThe 110 stories that historychose not to write in textbooksThe 110 stories that CNN, BBC,The New York Times, and Newsweek ignored
This is a poemfor interrupting this program. And still you wanta moment of silencefor your dead?We could give youlifetimes of empty:
The unmarked gravesThe lost languagesThe uprooted trees and historiesThe dead stares on the facesof nameless childrenBefore I start this poemWe could be silent foreverOr just long enough to hunger,For the dust to bury usAnd you would still ask usFor more of our silence.
If you want a moment of silenceThen stop the oil pumpsTurn off the engines and the televisionsSink the cruise shipsCrash the stock marketsUnplug the marquee lights,Delete the instant messages,Derail the trains, the light rail transit
If you want a moment of silence, put a brick throughthe window of Taco Bell,And pay the workers for wages lostTear down the liquor stores,The townhouses, the White Houses, the jailhouses, the Penthouses andthe Playboys.
If you want a moment of silence,Then take itOn Super Bowl Sunday,The Fourth of JulyDuring Dayton’s 13 hour saleOr the next time white guiltfills the room where my beautifulpeople have gathered
You want a moment of silenceThen take itNow,Before this poem begins.
Here, in the echo of my voice,In the pause between goosesteps of thesecond handIn the spacebetween bodies in embrace,
Here is your silence.Take it.But take it allDon’t cut in line.Let your silence beginat the beginning of crime. But we,Tonight we will keep right on singingFor our dead.
THIS is how this "church" chose to remember 9/11...with hate, with a list of social ills and complaints....yeah, very christlike.......but Obama is their Messiah
What is better than Gold? Jasper. What is better than Jasper? Wisdom. What is better than Wisdom? Woman. What is better than Woman? Nothing., Dame Prudence, Canterbury Tales, Chaucer......................

OBAMA--"Make me an instrument of G-d"----SCARY DUDE

With all the focus on Governor Palin we have forgotten comments made by B. Hussein Obama:
(Christina Corbin, Foxnews.com)
"Barack Obama has put his religion back into the headlines, trumpeting the power and salvation of faith and asking a church audience in South Carolina to help him become “an instrument of God” and join him in creating “a Kingdom right here on Earth."
Corbin further notes, "Obama has written and spoken about being inspired by the preaching of the Rev. Jeremiah Wright Jr., and his calls to “spur social change.” The title of Obama’s second book, “The Audacity of Hope,” which essentially launched his presidential bid, was taken from a sermon by Wright.
Baptized in Wright’s Trinity United Church of Christ, Obama has been an active member for two decades, regularly attending services with his family under Wright's spiritual mentorship.
Some of Wright’s sermons, which often address themes of white supremacy and black repression, have come under scrutiny by those who interpret them as racially divisive. Such preaching, they believe, polarizes Americans rather than unites them.
“Wright’s preaching does promote a sort of racial exclusivity,” said Michael Cromartie, vice president of the Ethics and Public Policy Center in Washington."
Charlie Gibson slammed Governor Palin for quoting President Abraham Lincoln while praying in church "Abraham Lincoln's words when he said -- first, he suggested never presume to know what God's will is, and I would never presume to know God's will or to speak God's words.
But what Abraham Lincoln had said, and that's a repeat in my comments, was let us not pray that God is on our side in a war or any other time, but let us pray that we are on God's side."
Palin, you will note prayed to not know G-d's will, but to DO G-d's will.
Obama, you will note asked YOU to "Make ME and instrument of G-d's." and to make our country "G-d's kingdom here on Earth."
Ummm, who do YOU think is scarier? So, in Obama's campaign comparisons have been made with him to JESUS (blasphemy) and he wants YOU to invoke HIM with G-d's power. That is ONE scary dude. Save us please.....................

Obama's Farrakhan TEST
By Richard CohenTuesday, January 15, 2008; Page A13
"Barack Obama is a member of Chicago's Trinity United Church of Christ. Its minister, and Obama's spiritual adviser, is the Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. In 1982, the church launched Trumpet Newsmagazine; Wright's daughters serve as publisher and executive editor. Every year, the magazine makes awards in various categories. Last year, it gave the Dr. Jeremiah A. Wright Jr. Trumpeter Award to a man it said "truly epitomized greatness." That man is Louis Farrakhan.
Maybe for Wright and some others, Farrakhan "epitomized greatness." For most Americans, though, Farrakhan epitomizes racism, particularly in the form of anti-Semitism. Over the years, he has compiled an awesome record of offensive statements, even denigrating the Holocaust by falsely attributing it to Jewish cooperation with Hitler -- "They helped him get the Third Reich on the road." His history is a rancid stew of lies. "
Liberals would like you to believe that Obama's connection to Louis Farrakhan and Jeremiah Wright is just a pack of lies and a vicious smear campaign, but simple FACTS can't be denied.
Obama was a member of Jeremiah Wright's church for 20 years---until the questions in this campaign became too tough to ignore and he chose to separate himself.
Obama believes that if he says he doesn't share the views of the church he attended for 20 years then that is a good enough answer.
Obama has chosen to NOT issue a statement AGAINST Farrakhan, his beliefs, or Jeremiah Wright. Silence is almost an answer to those questions.
Obama was a member of a church whose BLACK VALUE SYSTEM STATES: "Pledge allegiance to all Black leadership who espouse and embrace the Black Value System Personal commitment to embracement of the Black Value System. " A system supported by Farrakhan AND Jeremiah Wright and endorsed by the membership of B. Hussein Obama
Obama and his wife were married by Jeremiah Wright.
Obama's kids were baptized by Jeremiah Wright.
Obama had his name removed from the church roles when his political career appeared to be in jeopardy.
Interestingly enough, the original black power statements on the church website have been REMOVED from access. WHY? I have read them many times before and now can't access them. Interesting.....
"The vision statemnet of Trinity United Church of Christ," the website states, "is based upon the systemized liberation theology that started in 1969 with the publication of Dr. james Cone's seminal book, Black Power and Black Theology."
Obama wants to separate himself from men that espouse BLACK POWER, Separation, support of Africa, militant means of protest, and a black 'muslim' approach to thinking.
Liberals will tell you all of this is not an issue and as a matter of fact they will tell you it is all lies. Obama's personal associations CANNOT be denied and are conveniently disappearing into the new fictionalized account of his life.
Now, do we need a small lesson of Louis Farrakhan and the Nation of Islam?
"the NOI has a pronounced anti-white bias. They refer to blacks as God's chosen people and Caucasians as white devils. They call for a separate homeland for American blacks, for racially segregated education and for a ban on interracial marriage. To quote again from their website:
We believe we are the people of God's choice.
WE BELIEVE this is the time in history for the separation of the so-called Negroes and the so-called white Americans.
We want our people in America whose parents or grandparents were descendants from slaves, to be allowed to establish a separate state or territory of their own--either on this continent or elsewhere.
We want all black children educated, taught and trained by their own teachers.
We believe that intermarriage or race mixing should be prohibited." (Islam for Today).
It is clear that Obama wants to separate himself from any connections to Jeremiah Wright and Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam. But 20 years association with a church that preached a hate based form of Christianity is hard to ignore.
According to records Obama donated $5000 in 2005 and $22, 500 in 2006 to Jeremiah Wright's church. Author Freddosso wonders if a non-believer continues to give money to a church they don't believe in?
Obama has strong ties to Father Pfleger who was "an admirer and defender of the Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan". Father Pfleger called Condoleeza Rice and Colin Powell "house slaves" of the Bush administration (Freddosso).
Obama himself said of Jeremiah Wright--"I can no more disown him than I can disown the black community." (Freddosso).
What ended Obama's relationship with Jeremiah Wright? When Wright said that Obama's rejection of his extremism was just politically motivated. He said, "Politicians say what they say and do what they do based on electability, based on sound bites, based on polls, Huffington, whoever's doing polls." At that point, Obama severed the relationship......when his political motivation was brought into public question by Wright. (Freddosso).
FOR THE RECORD: I do NOT believe Obama is a practicing muslim, although he does not eat pork or drink alcohol. I believe some of his early upbringing stayed with him and he did say in his own memoirs that the 'call to prayer (muslim) was the sweetest sound he ever heard). I DO believe that he has questionable long-term relationships with questionable people that have had a strong influence on him and that his leanings are far LEFT RADICAL REFORM (socialism/marxism). Also, refer to http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5354 for insightful well researched information.
